What a RAW file is:

In short, professional photographers typically do not release RAW files to customers for two main reasons:

  1. RAW files represent the unprocessed and unedited version of an image. They contain all the data captured by the camera's sensor, making them the digital equivalent of a film negative. Releasing these files would expose the photographer's work in its most raw and unpolished state, which could lead to misrepresentations of their skills and artistic vision.

  2. RAW files are considered the intellectual property of the photographer. Retaining the rights to these files allows photographers to maintain control over their work and protect their reputation as artists.

A RAW file is a digital image file containing all the data captured by a camera's sensor without any in-camera processing or compression. These files offer greater flexibility in post-processing, allowing photographers to fine-tune colors, exposure, and other aspects of the image to achieve their desired artistic vision.
